NXE increases Halo 3 HDD load times

Bungie:The “New Xbox Experience” was released today and one of the new features allows you to “install” your games to the HDD. While you still have to keep the original disc in the tray, installing to the HDD can make some games perform a little better while also putting a little less wear-and-tear on your DVD drive. However, this isn’t to say that ALL games will see optimizations from being installed. In fact, in the case of Halo 3, the game will actually see increased loading times.

Big Fable II announcement now coming Monday 24th

The folks over at Lionhead recently said that they will be making a big announcement regarding Fable II this week. They have today announced that Microsoft has decided this week wasn't the time to make the announcement (most likely because of the NXE launch). However, there is some G o o d [Good] news. To celebrate the launch of the New Xbox Experience, we've created an all-new Fable II theme for your dashboard. Go show your Fable pride! For those of you who are waiting for the "big one" - stay tuned, Microsoft assures me that we can announce it on Monday 24th. If not, I will fly over there and slam my fist on a desk. Like, really hard!

Old Xbox 360 themes "butchered" by new dashboard

OXM UK is reporting that old Xbox 360 themes have been butchered by the New Xbox Experience dashboard. Most of the old themes were loosely tailored around the set-up of the old dashboard, meaning you'd have a big picture off-set to the right to stay out of the way of the menu options. Now everything has been completely rearranged, the new menus obscure the old themes. Ironically, it's the ones that were never that well designed in the first place that now look the best.
